Joining Your Minecraft Server

Node hardware, IP addresses and server tools in this guide may refer to an earlier setup. Check your dashboard for current connection and resource details.

The easiest way to find your server address is in your dashboard. Always use the address shown for your own server. Old screenshots or addresses from other guides may be out of date.

Find your server address

  1. Open the FreeMcHosting dashboard and choose your server.
  2. Look for the Address box on the console or overview page.
  3. Copy the full address, including the port if there is one.
  4. Make sure your server has finished starting.

It may look something like example.host:PORT, but that's only an example. Your dashboard shows the actual address.

Join from Minecraft Java Edition

  1. Start Minecraft Java Edition using a version your server supports.
  2. Click Multiplayer, then Add Server or Direct Connection.
  3. Paste the address into Server Address.
  4. Join the server.

What if you can't join?

  • Connection timed out: Check that the server is running. Look at the console for errors and see our status page.
  • Wrong version: Check that your Minecraft version matches the version your server supports.
  • Wrong address: Copy it again from the dashboard, including the port.
  • Bedrock player on a Java server: Java servers need extra setup for Bedrock players to join. See our crossplay guide.

If it still doesn't work, contact us and include your server name and the exact error message. Please don't send us passwords or private tokens.
